How are your boxing classes structured?
Boxing is a high intensity, full body workout that will keep you moving the whole time. When you're not throwing a punch, you're ducking and weaving — or doing squats and abdominal work.
What happens in your boxing classes?
Classes are usually made up of around 10 - 20 people and concentrate on pad work, boxing drills, and functional training. You face opposite someone and throw combination punches at them which they block with their padded gloves. Then you swap and block theirs. There is no body to body contact so the risk of injury is minimal.

Classes range from 45 minutes to 1 hour. We warm up for the first ten minutes, do pad work for 40 minutes, and finish off with core strengthening and stretches for ten minutes.

Why will boxing get you results?
One hour can burn 500 – 700 calories depending upon how challenging your workout session goes. Weight loss, increased agility and coordination, muscle tone and greater fitness all result from boxing. Many people think that boxing is all about the arms but it is actually a cardio work-out for the whole body. It's especially good for toning your bottom and quad muscles, which is perfect for women who want to lose weight around their bottom and thighs as part of an overall reduction program.
I’ve never boxed in my life. Will I be able to do it?
Boxing is all about technique so once you pick up the moves you should be fine. If you're not particularly fit then that's not a huge problem. Boxing is actually easier for a lot of people than running, especially for those with excess weight. It's not just a sport for the men either; women actually pick up the combinations faster than men and have more flexibility through their mid-section.
What is an upfront Group Class Pass and how does it work?
Our special Class Passes are the alternative to a gym membership. You only pay for the sessions you use. The more classes you purchase, the better price you get. They are all cost effective options for those who would like to train on a regular basis.

Is there anything to be cautious of?
Weak wrists are probably the only thing that might present a problem however once you learn how to box properly, you shouldn't be putting any unnecessary strain on your wrists. The aim of your punches is also important. Align your punches correctly and your knuckles should feel no pain. It is very important to wrap your hands for extra support and also wear good boxing gloves.
If you need extra help to get your form perfect and learn the combinations properly, then a couple of sessions with our personal trainer is recommended.
Will I get hurt?
There is absolutely no body-to-body contact allowed in boxing, so any risk is minimal.
Is there parking?
Our studio is located at the rear entrance of 488 Victoria St, you access the studio by walking down Coles Terrace laneway which runs parallel to Victoria St. On street parking is available in Davison St and Leslie St off Victoria St, however we suggest not parking directly on Victoria St due to clearways in the morning and evening.
